ISLE OF MAN – Entries are open for the 2018 Microgaming Soapbox Race, which takes place in Douglas on Saturday 1 September 2018 at 6pm.
The fun-filled fundraiser is back and it is geared up to be even bigger and better than ever, with exhilarating jumps, steep slopes and tight turns for participants to navigate. Starting at Circular Road, drivers will get a chance to zoom through Upper Church Street, before speeding into Barrack Street where the finish line awaits.
Prizes will be awarded for the fastest lap, highest speed, biggest jump and best crash. Also up for grabs are awards for ‘outstanding kart design’ and ‘best dressed’, promising an action-packed evening with memorable performances and wacky vehicles.
Previous soapbox designs have included the Snaefell Mountain Railway, a double decker bus, and Brum, from the popular television series.
All proceeds raised from the event will go to Hyperbaric Isle of Man, a local charity that provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy and treats over 15,000 patients on the Isle of Man every year. In 2015, the event raised £4,000 for the local charity, with overall donations amounting to nearly £10,000 to date.
Supporting the event since 2014, Microgaming PlayItForward will be providing financial and organisational assistance, as well as having a group of PlayItForward volunteers present to assist with the event.
3FM will also return as media partner to promote the race on-air.
